False pretensions

False Pretentions– An evaluation of communication, man, and society.

False pretensions describes and evaluates phenomena which characterize and strongly affect the development of human society. It discusses conditions for an organization of society which respects people, and assures its peaceful development. At least as peaceful as possible.

The book shows that people have far too high an opinion of their mental abilities.
That the world is such a mess can be explained by arrogance. Thinking and doing as if one can more than one really can guarantees failure and misery.
The book shows that society is organized on the basis of incorrect assumptions. Shortcomings in human mental abilities are not taken into account properly (safely).
Societies embrace incompatible values. Majority rule means that fellow human beings are not respected. In general their opinions and interests are ignored.
The book shows that the present mess in neither inevitable nor necessary. It presents proposals for a gradual develop-ment towards a society with a constitution based on mutual respect.
The principal conclusion of the book is: if mankind wants to survive, arrogance should be replaced by modesty.
